This is sad. Two persons including a student of Civil Engineering department of Bayero University in Kano, Husseina Nalado, were killed during a clash between the Police and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, otherwise known Shiite.
The group members, whose activities have been banned in Kano, had a clash with the police during their annual Arbaeen trek in some parts of the state, leading to her death.
According to report, the Shiite members were intercepted by the police at the popular Lado overhead bridge along Zaria road in Kano metropolis. The policemen allegedly stopped them by firing teargas and live bullets. Many sustained injuries in the incident.
The lady who died is said to be the best Engineering student in her department.
Ibrahim Zakzaky, leader of the group, has been in detention since December 2015 when his followers clashed with some soldiers. Also killed were an elderly woman and a middle-aged man.
